- Coban is a family run photography company. We specialize in both portrait and wedding photography in London. Our founder Huseyin Coban started of as a trained electrician, however he bought a camera and started taking pictures during his travels in the armed forces. We still have some of the images he took 25 years ago dotted around our studio. He says "When I first started taking pictures the images were clear but the people in the images seemed cold. I learned very early on that to capture a good image, I would have to get to know the person. I stared to sit down with them and they would tell me these funny stories that would usually leave me crying from laughter. I would then take the same picture again but, this time there was so much energy in the image. The people in them would shine". Huseyin moved his family to the UK. He worked several part-time jobs while trying to start up his photography company. He says "It was a lot harder in those days, I couldn't speak the language and I had two small sons and a wife to look after. I was working in a factory ironing during the day and I worked as an electrician during the night. We struggled for many years but, it was all worth it in the end".
18 years have passed since the company was formed but, to this day we continue Huseyin's two main philosophies "to take a good image we must get to know the person" and "I am only as good as my last work". We are now run by Yalcin Coban, Huseyin's eldest son who sticks closely to his fathers principles but, brings great new ideas. Our working style is laid back allowing you the breathing space that you need. We work hard to produce work that you will want to show off to everyone.
